Welcome to Room 2

My name is Mary Von Der Lieth and I am so excited to be part of the Madison team and to be your child's first grade teacher! I am originally from the Chicagoland area, but have lived here in Redondo Beach since 2012. My husband and I have two kids that attend school in the district as well. I am so lucky to be able to be part of the community in which I teach in!

Being in the classroom is my passion, I started working with kids in 2002 as a preschool teacher. Later, I started working for Redondo Beach Unified School District in 2014 as a 1:1 aide. After I had my second child I decided to go back to school to receive my teaching credentials. 

I am passionate about creating a classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore new ideas. I focus on fostering a love for learning by encouraging curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. 

I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to ensure your child has a positive and successful first-grade experience!
