About Me

Hello! My name is Kristy Kowal, welcome to Room 9! I have been teaching for over 16 years (more than 15 in third grade!). I am from Reading, Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!).  I completed my Masters Degree in Elementary Education through the University of Georgia and Gratz College.  My mother was a teacher, and I've always known that my passion was to work with children.  I began teaching after retiring from swimming. I represented Team USA for 10 years and won a silver medal in the 2000 Olympics in the 200 meter breaststroke.  I love visiting my family back east, playing the guitar and ukulele, hanging out with my 2 cats, and traveling. I looking forward to a fantastic year and feel so honored to be a part of the Madison family!
