I am pleased to share an opportunity for 5th-grade students in the Redondo Beach Unified School District. Our school district values, and wants to recognize, students who are fluent in two or more languages. We have recognized successful bilingual/multilingual students at high school graduation for the past half dozen years. However, we also want to encourage and recognize our students at the end of 5th grade and encourage their continued usage of multiple language competencies. We know that utilizing these skills will help our students successfully navigate living in a global society.
There are two possible awards available to our bilingual/multilingual students. The attached document explains the different requirements for each award: the Bilingual Service and Participation Award (BSPA) and the Biliteracy Attainment Award (BAA). Please read the attached document to understand the criteria for each award type. The document also includes an application along with forms that must be completed for the different awards.
In order to be considered for either award this spring, 5th grade students must submit an application along with attached documentation to their teacher no later than Wednesday, May 15th.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gamet at email@example.com.
