TenMarks Math Summer Program
We’re delighted to inform you that Redondo Unified School District will be providing your student with access to an online summer math program to maintain and extend their math skills over the summer. Research shows that most students lose 2.8 months of grade equivalency math skills over the summer, and we’re excited to offer a program which should help reverse the summer learning loss.

Trash Free Tuesdays!! There is an exciting new movement happening all around us and our school has jumped on board. The Trash Free Tuesdays concept is simple, we want kids to bring lunches that don't generate any trash. Tupperware style container, reusable water bottles and cloth napkins. Every little bit helps reduce our waste. Start today and make your lunch trash-free.
College Wear Wednesday & Walking School Bus - Dreams can be realized when inspiration is lit. If we believe they have a bright future, they will believe it too. Show some college spirit and encourage your child to wear a shirt from a college they are familiar with or interested in.
WSB - In the search of ways to make walking to school safer, more fun and more convenient, communities are finding that walking school buses can make a real difference. A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school with two or more adults. It is fun, the kids love it, this healthy way to wake up their bodies and ready their brains to meet the challenges of the day - All Aboard!
RECYCLE DAY FRIDAY - Bring your cans & plastic bottles to the tool shed on the playground every Friday & help us send our 5th Graders to camp. *please sort them first.

Dear Madison Families,
It is with mixed emotions that I am writing you today. I have accepted an elementary principal position with the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, and will not be returning as the Madison principal for the 2013-2014 school year.
This new position will allow me to move back to Mission Viejo in Orange County. As you may remember, I came to Redondo Beach after working in Orange County as both a teacher and an assistant principal. My family and I are very excited about this opportunity. In fact, my family will be able to move back into my wife's childhood home.
I want you to know it has been a pleasure working with all the wonderful families in the Madison community. Working side by side with the Madison staff and parents over the last three years has been a very rewarding experience. I will miss your children on a daily basis. I want to thank you for letting me be part of your child's educational journey.
I will be here for the remainder of this school year, and feel strongly that Madison Elementary School is in a good place. Madison will continue to educate the "whole child" and encourage college for all our students. With an API of 907, the Madison community has much to be proud of.
Please know that a great deal of time and care will be put into finding your next site principal. I plan on leaving Madison in very capable and conscientious hands.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your constant support of both me and what we do here in the name of educating kids. The PTA and parent support are key to any successful school. It truly does take a village to raise a child.
